Location Recce

When researching locations, I created a location recce to decide what places where appropriate for filming our music video:

Party and Dinner Scenes

Chosen Location = Erika's House

Scenes = Verse 2 and Framed narrative.

This location will be used in the frame narrative in which the exterior of it will be featured. Outlex will be seen outside of a party on the step where she first discovers the VHS tape. For the second verse we move to the interior of the house at a dinner party setting, in which Outlex and extras will be seen seated at a table having a friendly conversation over some food.

Hilltop and the Riverside

Chosen location = Richmond Park or The Hamptons

Scenes = Bridge and Framed narrative

We have two ideas for this location and we will make our decision depending on the conditions such a permission and distance of them. The hilltop is used when Outlex decides to fight back against her anxiety figure, sending sticky notes flying across the scene. The riverside is for the framed narrative when she throws the VHS tape away after watching it and wanting to get rid of the negative aspects of her life.

Neon Lights Background

Chosen Location = Soho

Scenes = Choruses

This location is for the performance aspect of the song, in which we can incorporate the neon lights imagery, as they have them hanging up around the streets, as well as big colourful displays hung up for Christmas.

Studio

Chosen Location = Drama Studio

Scenes = Choruses

Like Soho, we will use the studio along with neon lights for performance aspects, having a black background to show contrast between light and dark and to hold emphasis on these neon lights we will hang up.

Permission:

Some locations such as the drama studio do require permission to film in, just in case there is a class present and the room is not available. In advance we have emailed the drama department listing the times we would like to film and asking for permission to do so.
We also wanted to film in the neon lights museum God's Own Junkyard for performance aspects and again asked for permission to do this, however were unsuccessful. We tried again at other places such as neon sign stores which again the same reply was given: we were unable to film at this location.
When we asked to film at God's Own Junkyard we asked with the proposition of being able to lip sync, however we feel that if we ask, we may be able to use a GoPro just to walk around and film establishing shots of the location, minimising any risks of disturbing the public.

Montage:

I decided to visit these locations to see exactly we would be able to film, and whilst I was there I used the GoPro to get some shots of various areas, which I have put in the video below:
